Lights That Don't Wake the Baby

Having enough light to safely walk across the room to check on your little ones without disturbing their sleep can be very difficult with overhead lighting. The location of the light source means it will always reach their face, which is often enough to wake them. We set this nursery up with dimmable led lights integrated into the baseboard trim. An automation was set up to turn them on at a very low output in the evening and off at dawn. Opening the door increased the lights just enough for a parent to cross the room without tripping. With the lights below the crib baby remained undisturbed and parents stayed safe. We always try to find balance between functionality and aesthetics.
